Another great weekend of soccer for Swifts! Both teams played tough teams – resulting an excellent 4-1 win for the Silvers and a 3-0 loss for Lightning. Both teams thank opponents for fair and enjoyable games, and spectators for the great support! And congratulations to the Silver Swifts for the great result!!

Maribyrnong Silver Swifts VS Richmond FC

Sunday 17th of June at 3pm, Johnson Reserve, West Footscray

The day was a mix of sun and crazy rain at Johnsons Reserve for Silvers match against Richmond.

Our referee did not turn up so the Richmond coach kindly offered to referee the game, there were supporters for both teams on the bench ready to cheer their respective teams on despite the freezing cold and lack of shelter from the elements.

The game started slowly as players thawed out and got into the game, Swifts scored a beautiful goal after many attempts and a strong Richmond defense. The score line was 1/0 Swifts way at half time. In the second half both teams struggled with several attempts at goals and pelting rain…in the last quarter Swifts scored another 3 goals in total playing a strong and organised game.  Both teams played well and fairly – a great match overall!! GO SWIFTS!!!!

Maribyrnong Lightning Swifts VS Watsonia Heights SC

Sunday 17th June at 3pm, Gabonia Avenue Reserve, Watsonia

Sunday afternoon full of rain and sun – and mud! – at Gabonia Avenue Reserve in Watsonia as well!

The whole team was excited to get to play Watsonia for the second time this season – this time on their home ground. Already a few warm up kicks on the ground showed that at least the goal keeper would be covered in mud by the end of the game!

The game started with great momentum right from the whistle. Everyone of the Lightning Swifts put their whole hearts and a 110 percent of determined attitude to the game and showed some great skills. Swifts were playing strong the entire first half against a tough team, and put in a great effort. The score line was 0/0 at halftime. In the second half Watsonia managed to get on top, and despite of Swifts’ persistent defense line the end score was 3-0 for Watsonia. Lightning Swifts thank Watsonia for a fair and good game!!
